Luke penned these words of Paul when he gave an emotional speech to the Ephesian elders before he departed from them. He had spent three years with them and was moved by the Spirit to travel to Jerusalem, where he was promised suffering and sensed approaching death. Yet, he confessed that his only desire was this: to fulfill the mission Jesus had given him to preach the Gospel. He felt his life was useless if he didn’t complete his God-given task.
Let us all be so bold to declare to others and our Father that life without our fulfilled purpose is futile. It is vain, empty and void. Let us be people who pursue Jesus with our whole heart. Passionately and sacrificially.
